The U.S. Department of Treasury will no longer be minting pennies by the end of this year. Although pennies will no longer be produced, they will remain in circulation as legal tender. Digital payments remain unaffected by this and will continue to process to the exact cent.
EntreBank is no longer able to order pennies from the Federal Reserve, which will limit our ability to fulfill change orders for pennies going forward. To ensure that we can meet our customer coin needs, we have implemented the following procedures effective Monday November 10, 2025:
- Penny orders are limited to $5 for customers only as our supply allows.
- Checks being presented for cashing will receive the exact cent if our supply allows. If our supply is depleted, we will round up to the nearest nickel.
CONSIDERATIONS:
- When paying with cash at a business, you may begin to notice transactions being rounded to the nearest nickel.
- If you have coins saved up, this is a good time to deposit them to your account at EntreBank.
- Consider replacing check payments with electronic payments.
- Consider rounding your check amounts to the nearest nickel.
- If you are a business, review your cash handling procedures and be ready to round when your penny supply is depleted.
